ASUS VW266H 25.5-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor – Black Review


I found this monitor when I was searching for a good vesa-capable monitor to declutter my desk (had 2 wonderful 22″ Samsungs that didn’t have VESA capability). I hadn’t ever purchased an Asus display before, though I’m quite fond of their motherboards. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try–the monitor’s reviews were good, and the price was quite reasonable, especially after the rebate.

I was so surprised and thrilled with my purchase that three days later I bought a second monitor. I now have over 50″ of LCD real estate mounted to the back of my desk–no clutter from monitor stands. It’s amazing! I can open and see everything!!! I have two computers connected to both monitors (via analog KVM & DVI), and it’s really sweet. The monitor settings (colors, contrast, brightness, etc) are completely adjustable and perfect for my preferences. The refresh rate is great, too. This monitor has a very nice 3-year warranty, which I always like.

I didn’t try the speakers, so I can’t comment on that. I have speaker systems that I use, so the quality of the speakers wasn’t important to me. I like the piano-style finish and the fact that the display is matte and not glossy. The controls aren’t bad, especially if you want to select a Mode and use that preconfigured setting.

I’m very happy with my purchases. If I had a video card that could support 4 monitors, I’d buy 2 more!

I spend several days researching Monitors online. I wanted a monitor that could operate at 1920×1200. I was actually worried that the ASUS would not be a good motitor because of the low price. I game on it daily. My wife uses a HP w2207h, and wants to upgrade to this one also. The fact that the higth doesn’t adjust does’t bother me at all. I was a little concerned after reading other reviews that it might. I use the factory built in speakers they are not the quality that I would sit and listen music on, but they are fine. I only mention the speakers because I seen several comments about them in reviews. I have a ASUS Laptop and just bought two new gaming PCs with ASUS motherboards. I have been very happy with all the ASUS products I have bought.

It’s a good, fast, inexpensive monitor. The picture is good. My Dell 2700FP looks small and old next to it… If you want an awesome monitor, buy a dell ultrasharp, but it will have a hefty price. My only complaint is that onscreen menus are confusing and hard to use. The picture is good, and IMHO the monitor is your most important part of your computer.

No dead pixels.

I bought this monitor to replace a 245BW Samsung monitor that developed flicker problems. Although Asus claims that this is a 26″ monitor, the actual screen size is only slightly larger than the 24″ Samsung monitor, but the quality is SIGNIFICANTLY better. I understand all the reviewers who note that the colors may change at extreme viewing angles, but let’s be realistic. Most, like me, will use this as a desktop monitor and this is not even remotely an issue.

If you are shopping for a large monitor, this should be at the top of your short list. If you need very resolution or performance for graphics editing, the Dell UltraSharp is a better product, but it is more than twice the price – even when on sale. For normal people with normal requirements, this monitor simply cannot be beat. It is a REMARKABLE best buy, especially with the frequent rebates. Highly recommended.

ASUS MT276HE – 27″ Wide LCD Monitors – Black Review


As an avid and knowledgeable person of many electronics, I have added this awesome monitor to my collection. Let me start off by saying that ASUS is one of the best manufacturers of many computer electronic components. Since I have purchased this monitor, I have put it through a wide range tests, and usage. It far exceeded all my expectations for performance not only with Gaming, but Graphic’s production, and Movies are outstanding! Unlike the previous review that I do not agree with as this person neglected to mention the 4 built in Color Presets to adjust to your specific need, and the fact that ASUS has thought about the fact that credit card sized remotes get misplaced easily, and they made a Built In Remote Control socket placement on the left side toward the rear of the monitor to hold it while not in use, and also, depending on what type of video card you have in your system will determine the amount of Video Frame Rate Playback (24p) as my card has specific settings for such. As far as the audio goes, I really cant say much as I dont use the monitors speakers,…personally I see no reason really to have speakers in the monitor unless the monitor had a built in TV Tuner! Nice surround sound systems are fairly cheap, and plentifull these days. I have nothing but good things to say about this monitor, and for the price I will probably purchase 2 more!

ASUS’ slogan is very true!(Rock Solid) and yes there is always room for error, and malfunction for which all manufacturers get sooner or later, but I can say that in all my years, and all my experiences with different items, very few of the malfunctions have been made by ASUS, and being a respectable company they back there components 100%….when you buy ASUS you are buying the best there is to offer!

If you want to have a good monitor and not pay a lot you will be happy with the ASUS.

Now I want to got eat a fish taco.

Notes:
Had to set the up the monitor to get the look I wanted.
Not noted in the manual: Had to set some video card settings to get it to go full screen

I have no idea why there are flowers on the bottom of the monitor.
In the low light of the edit bay they don’t look like flowers.

I don’t like the placement of the control buttons on the top because it means I have to stand up from my desk, but the inclusion of a remote makes that almost a non-issue.

The ASUS MT276HE 27″ monitor is a great value. The screen is bright and clear. The controls are easily understood, even intuitive. The speakers are very good for built-ins on a monitor. I just love the clicker which allows complete control over the screen, music, setting, etc. and is great when watching NetFlix online. There is a slot on the back of the monitor to stow the clicker, which is well done and quite cool. The screen is bigger than many of my TVs, so watching movies with a remote-controlled 27″ monitor running on a Dell 1750 laptop is fun.

The only thing wrong with the monitor is the stand… I know, I know – a weak point to make. But the stand allows the monitor to sag this way and that a bit and is not well-engineered from a stability point-of-view.

It ran great right out-of-the-box with no setup required. It replaced a 27″ Acer which was really quirky. Thus the Windows 7 ready features of quick start-up are appreciated.

SUMMARY: Great value, good product, clear, crisp… A+ You will not regret buying one.

ASUS VW266H 25.5-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor – Black Review


I shopped for a large monitor for quite a while and finally settled on this Asus 25.5 inch. I design for weaving fabric and it gives me a very large area for designing plus I can use my regular laptop screen in conjunction to hold extra menus and save even more space on the Asus for the design. I also liked the 16×10 ratio to give me more height and the native resolution of 1920 x 1200. I had no problems setting it up. Just followed the enclosed directions.
I had read other reviews that said that the buttons on the front of the monitor were not responsive, but I’ve found that holding the “on” button down a few seconds brings the monitor up. Easy when you know what to do. I have not made a lot of adjustments to the screen, but read the info and that does not seem hard either if you follow instructions.
I do not like the connections being along the bottom because you have to hold it awkwardly to attach them, but once you get them done, not much need to change anything.
My husband is jealous now. His monitor is only 23 inches.

I purchased this monitor, because of the multiplicity of inputs, the size, and because others thought it was a good monitor for the price. Yes, this is an e-cheapo monitor, but it is astounding how good it is for the price. It requires some color adjusting, basically dropping the blue channel by 30%, and the brightness by 50%. When you do, the results are quite good.

I have this attached to a computer running Linux, specifically Debian Lenny, running a KDE desktop. With the new monitor installed, the resolution of the old monitor appeared (1600×1200), but the new native resolution of 1920×1200 also appeared as an option, and it was easy to switch to it. Text looks crisp and smooth. KDE and XORG are doing something right with the font smoothing.

I also have it connected to an upscaling DVD player, connected to the HDMI input. The images are clean, clear, and big. Big is good.

I received and setup this monitor just a couple days ago. Out of the box this thing nearly blinded me. It was super bright and the colors were cold – leaning toward bluish tints everywhere. I did some adjusting on the options (after Googling “calibrate ASUS VX266H”) based on some findings online. It’s much better now.

I’m not a design or print professional, so absolute color match is not that important to me. I was just after lots of screen real estate at a reasonable price. To that point this monitor hit a home run.

Put a piece of tracing paper over your existing monitor. This is what you get with this monitor. If you would fly in the baggage compartment for half price, this is the monitor for you. This is the worst quality monitor I have ever laid eyes on. It is offensively bad quality. People always ask, “But did you adjust it?” I spent two hours fiddling with it. Trust me, no amount of adjusting is going to turn this frog into a prince. I think the vast majority of positive reviews are because they’re excited to pay about 0 for a 25.5 inch monitor. Yes, it will display something when you plug it in, but if you care what it looks like, you won’t be happy.
